Last week at #JHMF, we gave you one #recipes using our rich #omega filled 80:20 grassfed beef. We made a juicy #Keto burger to share virtually with our friends..
What is our secret for retaining the natural juices and healthy fat in our ground beef? Our trusty, well- seasoned 9x12 cast iron skillet. A seasoned cast-iron skillet can compete with the best non-stick pan; your grassfed beef should not stick if the pan is seasoned correctly. With our tips, seasoning your pan is a breeze, pain-free, and takes about two- hours from start to finish.
Steps to season a cast-iron skillet:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Fill the sink with water.
Add dishwasher liquid( a prefer to use the liquids that are scent-free or do not have a strong perfume scent: remember we are seasoning our cast skillets and we do not accidentally want to bake in the taste of our dishwashing liquid).
Scrub skillet using your dishrag or a sponge.
Dry skillet thoroughly.
Take a paper towel and spread a thin layer of vegetable oil or melted shortening in the inside of the pan. ( be sure to wipe out of the skillet any excess oil).
Place skillet in upside down on the middle rack in the oven.
Bake for one hour.
Let the skillet cool in the oven.
Now was that hard? Let us know how your cast-ironed skillets turned out!
